Mehndi tattoos

What is a Mehdni?

A mehendi is a tattoo that a bride wears on her hand or on her feet after getting married. The bride normally hides the grooms name inside the mehendi and it is the groom’s job to find it. They are normally red or black. Mehendi means henna tattoo. Mehendi tattoos are normally found in India.

Outdoor learning with Oly!

We spent the afternoon doing outdoor activities with Oly Cooper. He played games with us to keep warm (we needed this as it was -1c!), and we made mud faces.

We learnt about squirrels, jays and hibernation. As well as consistency and working as a team. (Not to mention getting very muddy in the process!)

Thanks Oly!

We have been looking at the symmetrical patterns in Rangoli, from India.

Rangoli is art produced by the women of India to welcome people into their homes.

The lotus flower, the tiger and the peacock are all national symbols of Inida.

Using the iPads in maths.

Today we have been experimenting with some of the iPad apps.

The apps have been designed to play with 2 or more players and asked the children to answer randomly generated questions in + - x ÷ within a set amount of time. Their scores were recorded at the end.

We played:
